Who We Are
The Metropolitan New York Macintosh Alliance was formed in 2001 to provide a community for Macintosh computer users in the New York area. Our goal is to provide opportunities to come together to share information, ask questions, and help each other gain the most from our computers.

What We Do
MetroMac offers a variety of ways for members to share information and help one another:

  • We are an officially recognized Apple User Group, and can publicize special User Group discounts and Offers to our members. Keep informed about our events and offerings by Signing Up as a MetroMac Alliance member.
  • We sponsor Message Forums where you can ask questions of fellow members and experts, offer comments on new Macintosh products and software, or discuss anything related to the world of computers.
  • We publish and distribute eZines and digital Newsletters containing product reviews, tutorials and perspective on the state of the Macintosh universe, all authored by fellow members.
  • We hold regular in-person Meetings in New York City, providing members a chance to meet and share their ideas, thoughts and problems with each other, and learn about new developments in the Macintosh industry.
  • We maintain a Calendar of Events of interest to Mac users in our area. Send an email to to have your event listed.

10 Ways Joining MetroMac
Will Make You a Better Mac User

  1. Get the Answers you Need, When You Need Them
Have a problem? Post it on our electronic Q & A forum 24 hours a day, or ask at MetroMac's in-person meetings. There's a good chance our resident experts, or one of our hundreds of members, can provide the answer - sometimes in minutes.
  2. Learn the Latest in Mac Technology
Our in-person meetings at the Apple Store Soho feature in-depth demonstrations of new hardware software and computer services (with frequent special discount offers for attendees), and discussions by experts (like David Pogue and Adam Engst) on the latest in Mac technology.
  3. Keep up on the Latest News
Our online web forums report the latest developments in the Mac community, while our online eZine and newsletter writers publish in-depth reviews, tutorials and perspectives.
  4. Test Drive the Newest Software - and Keep it
Volunteer to try out a new software program (or tutorial book) and write a review for our newsletters. The product is yours to keep and use once the review is completed.
  5. Get Discounts not Available Elsewhere
Special deals offered exclusively to user group members, including free admission to Macworld Expos, discounts for products including Aladdin Systems software, Apple Products, Asante Hardware, books from PeachPit Press and O'Reilly, and more are posted regularly on the MetroMac website.
  6. Goodies Galore
Following our general meetings, MetroMac and our guests frequently give away a host of goodies - from tee-shirts and books to software worth hundreds of dollars.
  7. Pursue Special Interests
Meet fellow members who share your particular interests (web design, freelance work, the Internet, etc.) by setting up a Special Interest Group meeting.
  8. Find Work
Advertise your computer skills, or locate a specialist in our Jobs Available and Jobs Wanted forums.
  9. Sell Stuff You no Longer Use - Easier than eBay
List your extra hardware and software on our website. Takes a minute, no photos needed. You'll deal directly with interested purchasers.
