I have an iMac, the first Intel model running OS X 10.4.10:
Hardware Overview: Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac4,1 Processor Name: Intel Core Duo Processor Speed: 2 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 667 MHz Boot ROM Version: IM41.0055.B08 SMC Version: 1.1f5 For several months now, about once every 10 times that I put the computer to sleep it freezes when I try to wake it up. It becomes unresponsive and even the clock stops. I've tried all the routine maintenence I can think of and applied the combo updater as well. I have to power down with the power button and then restart, something that makes me wince. Any suggestons? I don't want to reinstall the system as this problem isn't that serious to me but is annoying. Thanks. |

Create a new user account and keep that account logged in for a few days, and see if same problem happens. If it does not it is some preference file in normal account that is corrupted. If it happens with a virgin account, it could be RAM although I doubt it. Report the results here and we can diagnose this next problem. -Peter |

Is there anything else that the new user account could discover. I will try it, however, and let you know. Thanks. |

Of course, what has happened is that after a few days my problem hasn't recurred with my new user account but I can't get it to happen with my regular account either. Intermittent problems are the most difficult. Thanks for your help, however. Harold |
