It's been fun.

Since joining the staff of the MetroMac newsletter a couple of years ago, I have enjoyed knowing the production team and the contributors to this publication. At this point, however, I must retire from active newsletter service due to personal considerations.

Of the volunteers who were active when I joined, two people are still associated with the newsletter. Bill Chachkes, who was Editor then, is now Associate Editor, with his own column. Milt Herder holds on as copy-editor, and is a good one. Alma Orenstein, who was our Art Director, has gone on to other activities and I wish her well. Eden Maxwell was, and still is, our most active reviewer and contributor. Lloyd Prezant has been writing his “Computer Connections” column for somewhat longer than Metromac has existed. President Chris Bastian has regularly passed along MetroMac's news in his column. We have had other volunteers delivering material and staff support along the way. I think of all of them as friends and associates.

Since I “temporarily” assumed the post of Editor over two years ago, we have added several staff members and contributors, all to the great advantage of the newsletter. Rob Yasharian has done an excellent job of art direction and page layout. We have added another copy-editor in Joan Scherman, who has been valuable to us. Joanne Haire has stepped in to be our Photography Editor. (Send her pictures for use in the newsletter.) We have been lucky to have Melody Reed join us as the author of a tutorial on web design. I count all of these people as friends.

The newsletter must go on to serve the needs of the MetroMac membership. We need someone to take over my position, leading and coordinating both staff and contributor activities to meet regularly scheduled publication dates. If you are interested, contact me and I'll tell you what my idea of the job is. My thanks to all my friends and to all who have contributed to the success of the newsletter.
