The Mac OS X Conversion Kit: Published: June, 2003 by Peachpit Press List: $29.99 * This book is as straight as it gets when trying to figure out what was changed from OS 9.x to OS X. The book layout is unique with the left page being the “old” OS9 way and the right page is how it is now done or more precisely how in Jaquar which is 10.2.x With about 300 pages it makes a wonderful reference for both the novice and experienced user when facing the move to this bold new operating system. Topics range from the basics like the Apple Menu to programs like iChat, iPhoto and iMovie, how to handle Fonts (now a bit more complex), Troubleshooting techniques plus those things that are no longer in OSX. It is easy to read and easy to look at thanks to the clear graphics and color images all printed on slick glossy paper stock. * reminder that MetroMac Supporting level members can get substantial discounts on Peachpit Press books so check our web forums for details. |
