Where Were You When
the Lights Went Out?

Boy, do we New Yorkers know how to organize fun meetings, or what! Hopefully none of you were caught in subway cars or elevators while heading off to our special Quark meeting, but you’ll probably agree that getting home was no picnic either (my trek at least took me by the Apple Store so I could check in and confirm that they’ll work with us to re-schedule).

There is No Team Like the Best Team Which is Our Team Right Here…
Thanks aplenty to all of MetroMac’s volunteers (Sheldon & Helen, Henry, Melody, Victoria, Annelliese, Bill, Michelle, Jeffrey, Peter, Hedy, Eric and I’m sure I’m missing someone…) who helped staff our booth on the Macworld Expo (yes, I know they renamed it “CreativePro”, but old habits die hard…). As the “local” group, we were in big demand, and the booth crew was busy answering questions and relaying information about our upcoming meetings and activities. In fact, our flyers went so quickly, I had to run out on the first day and print an additional 300. It looks like we signed up over 40 new members, including 4 new Supporting Members. Welcome all!

In the Blink of an Eye
Special thanks go out to Eric Mingorance and Leigh Morgan who, on the last day of the show, were forced to step in to tear down our booth and cart off all our supplies when I was suddenly diagnosed with an eye condition requiring immediate surgery. And for those who asked (thanks), the recovery’s going fine, but it means I was lying on a gurney when I normal would have been scrounging giveaways from the exhibitors.

They’re Getting their Act Together and Taking it on the Road???
Speaking of Macworld, the story we heard was that this would be the last year for the New York show, and that next summer we’d be congregating in Boston. THEN we heard they were “reconsidering” the show in Boston. Are they coming back to NYC? Are they scrubbing the east coast show completely? That would be a real pity: even the small scale show was worth attending and seemed to keep the crowd’s attentions (think “Macworld Lean” rather than “Macworld Lite”) As soon as we get any details, we’ll let you know.
