PNY drivesI would like to thank Bill Chachkes for the opportunity to add an addendum to his fine review of the PNY Attaché flash drive, based on my experience with the 256 MB and 512 MB versions.

Both of these models have the very important feature that Bill already emphasized - while they are USB 2.0 they are backward compatible with USB 1.1 so they work with almost any Mac or PC with a powered USB port. Both models have "in use" indicator lights and are "plug & play" on the Mac with no new driver needed, but with older Macs they may need to be connected to the powered USB port via a special high speed USB cable, which is included free with the drive, since they are both high speed USB drives.

The 256 MB version is a bit stubby, and the lanyard attaches to the cover. The street price is around $30. after rebates. The 512 MB version is much sleeker. It gives an "all clear" notice when it is ready to be disconnected and has a "read only" feature (both of which the 256 MB version doesn't), but the lanyard attaches to the body of the drive, which is a bit inconvenient. Its current street price is around $50. after rebates.
