Both of these models have the very important feature that Bill already emphasized - while they are USB 2.0 they are backward compatible with USB 1.1 so they work with almost any Mac or PC with a powered USB port. Both models have "in use" indicator lights and are "plug & play" on the Mac with no new driver needed, but with older Macs they may need to be connected to the powered USB port via a special high speed USB cable, which is included free with the drive, since they are both high speed USB drives. The 256 MB version is a bit stubby, and the lanyard attaches to the cover. The street price is around $30. after rebates. The 512 MB version is much sleeker. It gives an "all clear" notice when it is ready to be disconnected and has a "read only" feature (both of which the 256 MB version doesn't), but the lanyard attaches to the body of the drive, which is a bit inconvenient. Its current street price is around $50. after rebates.
