Welcome
Back, Kotter
MetroMac's bylaws set one-year terms for officers and
directors, and direct the
outgoing board to vote for replacements. All current board members have
agreed to stay on with the exception of retiring Newsletter Editor Henry
Marcinkowski. So please welcome back, and give a round of thanks to:
Bess Moffitt (returning as Treasurer), Michelle Dollinger (returning
as Secretary), Peter Fine, Marc Silverman, Bill Chachkes, Lloyd Prezant,
Milt Herder and Seth Elgart, who will be joining me for another year
of keeping MetroMac going and building it into a better, more supportive
organization.
Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition
Well, the space has been open only about two years, but
the Theater at Apple's
SoHo store (and MetroMac's meeting site) has already been brought in
for an overhaul, a casualty of its success as the city's ultimate
venue for Mac-related seminars, training sessions and User Group meetings.
As I write, the whole space is curtained off, with hammers and saws
echoing
in the background, and we're promised a fresh, souped-up space for
our next meeting. C'mon down and take a gander for yourself.
The Streets of San
Francisco
The ticket windows are open again for Macworld Expo San Francisco,
which runs
from January 10-14. Yes, it's far away, and no, it's not what it
was 10 years ago, and yes, it’s right after the holiday season; but with
the loss of MWNY and the apparently limited appeal of the successor
show in Boston, MWSF is now your once-a-year opportunity to take in all
the
best of the Macintosh universe: both products and personalities.
If you've never gone, it’s worth the experience, and it’s free (at least
the exhibit hall admission). Check our website for the discount code
and registration
deadline.
