As Managing Editor of this newsletter, I get to meet a bunch of interesting members. I would like to meet more. The best way that I know to do that is to get more members involved in writing for the newsletter.

More important, that would add vitality to this publication, by making it a forum for your real intests and concerns. We want your input – reviews, essays, rants, comments on articles, letters to the editor, what have you – that can make this publication better reflect your interests, your concerns, your enthusiasms. Our regular contributors are very valuable, but new ideas can only make us better.

With this month’s issue, we do have a new contributor to the newsletter, Ben Russell, who writes about gaming on the Mac. Although I’m not a gamer myself – aside from an occasional hand of solitaire – I think Ben makes a very compelling case for the importance of computer gaming to Apple and to Mac users. Thanks, Ben. I hope your impassioned adocacy strirs some reader response – pro or con.

We have at last given our Photography Editor, Joanne Haire, something to do, even if we had to take the pictures ourselves. I know that many of you own and use digital cameras, and could provide material for our photo page. You may also have some Mac-oriented film photos, which could be scanned into shape for Joanne’s use. Please: send us an e-mail [newsletter@metromac.org] showing us what you have and we will use your photos with thanks.

While I’m asking for help, there is another need. We would like to be able to report on our General Meetings. Please send us a short report on what happened during each General Meeting and what you thought about it. If we get more than one input, as I hope, one of our trusty copy-editors will edit it all into a single article, giving credit to those who contribute. Many members (myself included) cannot attend General Meetings, and this would be much appreciated.

Finally, if you recently bought some item of Macintosh hardware or software that is relatively new to you, why not write a review for the newsletter? I just bought an analog-to-digital video converter at a great sale price, and I am planning to review it as soon as I learn all its capabilities.

Henry
