'Five Philosophies and a Conundrum'

'Five Philosophies and a Conundrum'
11/01, 11x11 in, archival digital print.

The secret sits in the middle while alien thoughts find it impenetrable. We need to empathize with others, not try to force them to comply with our beliefs.

1/02, 13.5 x 17 in, archival digital print.

Unplanned subject matter emerges over time for me. An observer at the right sees diverse characters involved in their daily lives. I relate to each of them as alternate possible existences of myself. I feel a part of the world community.

'Space Walk'

'Space Walk'
1/03, 13.5 x 15.5 in, archival digital print.

A path leads upward, but are we in outer space passing planets and suns, or is it the micro-space of a cloud chamber? Are we moving outward or inward?

'Space Raft'

'Space Raft'
2/03, 13.5x20 in, archival digital print.

This strange image evokes for me a quantum particle and space travel and the simple complexity of relativity. Also the difficulty of determining just where it floats makes me think of the 'observer' who views our 'real' world from a detached vantage point within us. On another level there is a pen and writing pad recording history in time. And this makes me think of the cycle of birth and death. I didn't foresee any of this imagery. It was intuitively created and only later have I begun to understand it.

'In My Space and Time'

'In My Space and Time'
6/03, 24 x 36 in, archival digital print.

This is a diptych in two pieces split across the middle a way to create a bigger image within the limits of my Epson 1520 printer with its maximum image width of 13.5 inches. Without conscious intention it reflects my reverence for Richard Diebenkorn. There's a majestic breadth like the horizon at sea flowing beneath a deep, serene sky.

'Falling Shards'

'Falling Shards'
1/04, 13.5 x 17.5 in, archival digital print.

My first use of photo details in an abstract image. I use CorelPhotoPaint to process the photos then import them to CorelDraw. They become integral with the image and create a new hybrid. I like the simple, expansive, lighthearted quality like a dip in the ocean.
